I dont know if this is exactly forum related but considering my site is all forum and the issues is from forum members. I dont know who it is exactly that i need to reach out to , Wix help itself or Wix forum help. Anyhow, I notice when members make forum posts by sharing their list or description and uploading images. Those images go into my Wix storage. This has never happened before but lately I've noticed all of their images going into my wix plan storage. My plan only has 35GB Storage which I know its alot but my concern is the mess and eventually it filling up too fast and I will probably be downgrading my plan in the future since I doubt I need all of the features that i need my site for. I only wanted to simply create a forum and I intend to keep it for a very long time depending if it succeeds and if Wix forum keeps improving, Therefore, in time that storage will fill up. I dont know if his is a glitch or a new norm, but before i never had problems with their images going to my storage. If this is the case. I'd like to request a image posting feature where instead of uploading photos. they can copy image location and paste it just liek they can add youtube videos by posting links. I really prefer the uploading image thing but i dont want it going to my storage as it didn't before As you can see below. Its creating a mess of their forum uploads into my storage. I already had to delete a ton.

I am having the same problem, @John Cooper and share your frustration about it. This seems to be a new thing (images from forum members being dumped into our Site files area). And what is worse, if this is a "feature" they added, the dev at Wix that thought this up did it half-assed and didn't bother to create a folder to route the images into––member's images are just dumped at the top level, having to be organized constantly so that we can get to our own files.
Wow so it is happening to you also? Its such a disaster, isnt it? I'm gonna tag my @Greta Galubauskaitė @Greta Galubauskaitė so she can get to the bottom of this. Shes been so nice and she wont let this happen to us. Greta please tell the dev who did this to please cut it out
Hi, @John Cooper and @Robin Griggs Wood. Indeed, the files upload solution could be improved.
Let me share your feedbacks to the team and consider the improvements. I understand your frustrations about the mess in your files. I appreciate your feedbacks a lot, they will help us to rethink our solutions!
John, please elaborate more about the copy pasting images solution. Had you ever felt the need for this functionality before the issue with files upload happened? I want to understand the importance of the need to copy paste images.
@Greta Galubauskaitė, re: "I want to understand the importance of the need to copy paste images." It is very similar to how Wix Forum handles YouTube videos added to posts, those YouTube videos remain hosted on YouTube. What @John Cooper wants is the ability for members to add an image based on URL instead of direct upload so that our (quite limited) Wix storage doesn't fill up with member images. The IMPORTANCE of this is 1) Wix does not have the option for buying more storage, so, for someone who intends to have their forum for the long term, eventually the owner of the site will run out of storage and 2) Wix Forum app still does not have a viewing lightbox for uploaded images! That baffles me. Why is that important? ... well, for example, I have a learning site and I need to see the images they post ... they are still way too small in the non-dynamically resizable Wix Forum app (very behind the times, Wix). It is very much needed that they be able to add an image via a URL option (like you have with the YouTube videos ... and, I must add, like what is so common in other forums out there. Sometimes I think the folks at Wix don't actually go to other forums in the wider web to find out what people need and want and are really using.)
As a workaround, I've had to make my members create albums for their image work on other sites and add a link in the post where these can be viewed larger when needed. What a pain for them and me. And all so unnecessary.
@Robin Griggs Wood lightbox coming soon :)
@Greta Galubauskaitė Hey you. :) Yes exactly what @Robin Griggs Wood explained is what I meant about members using image url to host images as an alternative if the images are going to be sent to my site storage files. Like this, but with the option to upload image url
And, "No" i didn't think it was important before the forum members im explained is what I meant about members using image url to host images as an alternative if the images are going to be sent to my site storage files. Like this, but with the option to upload image url r own personal media that has no url,, so I'd prefer the uploading images option but without it cluttering my site files storage area. Thats where the disaster is.
I've been away and I've been pretty absent lately but today when I go home to check out my forum I noticed all this junk posted by members in the forum which is gonna take me a long time to delete them all. Take a look. Please @Greta Galubauskaitė make them fix it. They listen to you and I trust in you
Thank you
Hi, @John Cooper, user uploaded images should not be visible under you "Site Files" This issue is on us, we are aware of it and plan on fixing it soon.
Thank you for reporting!
Thanks but my @Greta Galubauskaitė just informed me that you guys fixed it and that it goes to ''Visitors uploads'' folder. That is definitely great that its not creating a mess in my site files but before this mess even started we never had these files go into our storage at all. And thats what I want back. If it was like that before id like it reverted back so it does not eventually take up all my storage when members post images in the group. In fact when members posts with images are deleted those files still stay in my storage which is another level of unwanted junk controlled by the members. @Robin Griggs Wood I'd like for you to chime in on this if you agree what I'm saying.
@John Cooper it has been my understanding that whatever our forum users uploaded has always counted against our storage. Their images didn’t appear in our media area before, but I have always assumed that they still counted against our storage.
