@Greta Galubauskaitė following up our previous conversation here in appropriate forum.
Previous Post for Context.
Here is my scenario:
Currently have a log in bar but I want visitors to complete an application questionnaire before they are approved and can join the website. Unfortunately people see the log in bar and immediately try to join via that route.
I have set the site so I manually have to approve members and only approve them after the application is done but want to automate to help in scaling. (if they correctly filled out the application first I send them an email to invite them to join the site.)
My intention is to use these forms to then qualify specific leads, provide relevant content which leads them to join the forum and then ultimately set up consulting meetings after consuming free content over time.
Questions:
FORUMS: Is there a way to then give the Avocado people access to specific sections of the forum and the Pasta people access to their own dedicated section of the forum? [I've tried to use member permissions but it seems that access on the forum is all or nothing.]
Follow Up to your response: See below section of how I was using permissions. I want all 3 of the member roles to have access to the forum but different categories based on their role. I.e. Avocado lovers only access avocado category. Pasta lovers only access the pasta category. Tofu lovers only access the tofu section. There will be a general section where everyone can access.
The current set up seems like its all or nothing and you cant give a role partial forum access.

@GrowingBlogger — I dont have access to the link directly, but run a browser search for “Wix Private Category” and you might find your solution with that. (That is, you would make an Avocado private category, a Pasta private category, etc. and then set up permissions per each category (you can do that using Roles, Badges or inputting each member’s name one at a time.)
Caveat: Wix still hasn’t gotten around to making Notifications work for private categories — despite having promised months ago to have them done. (That is, they released Private Categories unfinished.) Searches do not show anything from private categories either.
Hi, @GrowingBlogger. You can set permissions in settings or in the Live site. In fact, live site supports more developed feature. When in Live site:
please choose ''edit category" under the 3 dots and scroll down the side bar until PERMISSIONS appear. Please play around and let me know if you it was helpful for your case!
@Greta Galubauskaitė Thanks that solution worked. So it can only be edited on the live site then.
