Hi, @Tami Dubi, both Forums and Groups are for communication between you and members. Let me shortly brief you about the main differences:
CONTENT. Groups, differently from Forums, have a sense of instant chatting that reminds a classical social media feed. Forums, however, usually focus on wider content (discussing subjects and sharing the knowledge in depth). Topics in Forums are structured by categories, subcategories. Forum filters let you navigate content archives easily. It’s about maintaining textual or visual information from the present and the past (Groups, as mentioned, focus on the present and instantly shared moments that easily drown in a posts feed).
AUDIENCE. Groups are more for small groups of people, meanwhile, Forums can maintain huge audiences.
Summarising: if you’re planning to build a community that is based on long-lasting, well-structured communication-> choose Forums. If you want to have instant interactions with your members -> choose Groups.
I am also interested in how did you perceive both applications? What did you think when first saw Groups and Forums, so it will let us know if we describe them properly in their intros :)
