example ; Rafi Laufer wix forum admin.
I changed my nickname; Rafi Laufer :)
my site members can not change nicknames in the forum ? 1 Members are prohibited from signing the same nickname 2 ban nick change
two identical nicks, you should not allow.
not stable :(
is it normal for you to have two identical nicks in a forum?
Hi,
I see what you did there :)
So, first of all, its a great question, cause for example, in Facebook you can have the same name twice, because there are more Rafi Laufer's in the world.
There is still difference between us, I have the admin badge, also our URL's are different, rafi-laufer & rafi-laufer-1.
If I blocked the possibility to have same names, you can still call yourself Raffi Laufer, or something like that right?
So what you think will be the best solution?
Hello Rafi :)
I do not agree with you and I think this is very important.
Yes you have admin badge but normal members havent got badge.
I did not see the same nick in any forum site in the world, it is not allowed
Do not change member nickname.
maybe, nick change should be with admin approval
there may be trouble in the future when private messaging comes.
Thanks
Yes, i agree - on the Updates section I thought I was replying to the admin when Rafi Laufer commented on my post (yes, I know the admin symbol wasn't on the name but who really looks at that?). Very confusing!!
yes it was an experiment !
You do not have to be an administrator. 10 members can use the same nick ?
member can write what he wants but ''about''
thanks Jkuser.
all users in the forum make nickname ''admin'' in turkey , disgrace ..
:)
Hi everyone, I want to give a suggestion to this issue. Hopefully it will alleviate the problem.
Instead of "Nickname" how about utilizing "User ID". So everyone should make a User ID which may never be identical at all. While their Nickname is totally up to them, whether they want to put it or not, whether it is identical or not, basically Nickname is just an additional setting.
User ID: no spacing, no identical, no punctuation (basically the usual one).
Nickname: Anything you like!
What I propose is like in this post, the User ID should be placed next to the Profile Picture / Avatar (like it is now), while if the person has set a Nickname, it should appear next to the User ID. Like this:
Or maybe Nickname first, then User ID second. Basically that's the idea. Utilizing User ID will be great for the future when @Mention other member feature is released. Because to make it work each member should have a distinct User ID. If not then it will confuse the system.
Distinct User ID is actually a common requirements in any kind of form out there. I believe it is better to improve than reinvent the wheel.
Give love and comment on this post if anyone agree to the development of this feature!
Hello andluism
nice suggestion. I hope the managers will review the suggestion.
can be asked once during membership ?
I strongly believe that admin needs the ability to verify its users with a tick or symbol like twitter, facebook, instagram, etc any platform with a huge user base is going to need a clear clarification of its members to separate users from, site owners and staff and there needs to be more optional limitations for moderators, such as they should not have the ability to delete anyones post or move it this should be an optional choice permitted by admin.
The main reason why i feel there should be verification for certain users is to improve safety and service between customers and site owners and staff. For example my website is based on people booking a personal trainer for a class or one to one personal training session. My trainers are likely to use the forum and post anything in relation to what they do however someone can impersonate one of my trainers post a photo and link to their own page pretending to be one of my trainers meet the customer or even steal money through faking an account on their own page. Yes if admin is aware they could delete/block the member however if this goes unnoticed then it would not be hard to get away with especially if their site looks convincing enough, however if users know that there are two member types such as unverified and verified it would help a lot for example orange tick for staff members and green for verified customers/members which admin and moderators can deem what customer is deemed genuine through their own process of identification such as an email of electronic copy of proof of identity e.g. driving license or simply holding a piece of paper with a name, or invitation acceptance by feeling out a form etc (just examples)
This could apply to Hair salons. Scenario someone pretends to be a hair dresser for the site with the forum they post a beautiful hair style says i am fully booked but go to this link and i'll fit you in privately, tells the person they will meet them at their place and doesnt shows up or does! Direct messaging is definitely needed and find a member by location would help in regards to building a community around your site which becomes a lot safer through verification
Please Wix, please add this extra things please, wix.com in my opinion is the best website builder i have ever used and i have been using wix since 2012
Kind Regards
Jina
do not write in vain. I think nobody reads. I will examine the other alternatives. weebly, wordpress,... vs.
While I understand the idea of Facebook allowing the same name, this isn't Facebook-it's a forum. A number of forums do not allow for the same name because of impersonation reasons. This is why we asked for better Bios, so our members can help say "I'm not the same guy as this. I was born 1967, etc...". Not everyone'll follow that formula and will pretend to be others.
