Even images that are already possible to add, can be added as a file upload so it doesn’t lose even a bit of quality. We’re sure this will unlock all kinds of new interactions on the forum and that’s what is most important! Let us know how you’re planning to use file upload feature.

Hi @Domas Sabockis thanks for the update - this is a great step forward for the usability of the Forum!
You will be using file upload? Let me know of your use case if it’s not a secret ;)
@Domas Sabockis I'm setting up a forum for a new co-working space and thinking of uploading files like timetables, monthly events list, etc. It sounds promising!
Amazing
@Domas Sabockis are APKs supported? They're not uploading
@Heath H-M Hi, everything that you can select, when file selection popup opens is supported. Executable files in generally are not supported. However zip files are, so you can just zip any file(-s) you want ant upload it.
This is useful feature. Hope to be available on mobile app soon. Thanks.
Displaying files next week, adding files a lot later.
Displaying and downloading files are more importat I believe.
@venko gligorov I mean displaying and downloading will be out together for the app next week :)
This is exactly what I ment. Great.
Glad to hear that you guys are creating great changes, @Domas Sabockis.
One thing that will need to be addressed with this, of course, is allowing your Wix site owners to buy more storage ... ;o)
I turned my forum "file uploads" off because I already can't get my users to keep their image file sizes down, no matter how much I've posted about it in my forum ... it would be a nightmare if they started uploading huge files into my storage. Please let us buy more site storage! ... :o))
Did you or your users get blocked from uploading files because storage was all used out?
@Domas Sabockis I don’t intend to have my community be a short term thing. I am looking towards the future, that is all. You guys do not offer the option to add storage… Ever. So I have to take all uploads into consideration for the long term.
@Robin Griggs Wood Hi, I think you should not worry about storage for now. If it becomes a problem one day we will find a solution for it.
This is an AMAZING feature and I am so exited about using this option in my forum.
Is there a limitation on the file size that can be uploaded?
If not, I think this is very important to add so that none of my users crash the site with a 20 gb file or something...
I personally would like the limitation to be around 15 MBs like gmail.
i have a question. I am looking for a site where I can start a book.. chapter 1 and other writers will collaborate and then we will choose who does chapter 2 , etc. etc. is the forum area something that would work for this and simply having them upload their docs?
Hi, @portofstillwater, this depends. If you already have writters and just want to write a book, then it's probably best just to use google docs - there multiple people can write simultaneously, comment particular places of text etc.
If this book is more like a creative game, where you want as many different people to participate, then it can make sense to use forum. As it will be more discoverable and easier to discuss.
Also if you use Microsoft Word, then you can try and use forum to manage sharing and collaboration.
In my forum, members are trying to avi and mp4 files 3-10k. sometimes the whole site just freezes in middle of the upload, and sometimes the files seem to upload successfully, but when trying to download nothing happens, or the site freezes until Refreshing, or a weird sort of Json page opens up.
So far only I have successfully managed to upload a 22K mp3 file. Does this have to do with file size limitation? File types limitation? If so, there should be a sort of test before the site freezes, and if the test fails an error message should pop up notifying the user of the problem.
For example: "We do not support this file type".
At least let me know what limitation are. It is weird that I as the moderator of the forum still have no idea what the limitations of this feature are!
Hi, when you try to upload too large file it will say so. Your mentioned sizes are far from limit. Freezing issue seems strange, but it could happen with larger file's (however not at your mentioned size). Currently limit is over 100MB - however it's likely we will reduce this in future.
File type limitations are applied at file selection time, you should only be able to select a file from you filesystem that is whitelisted.
Do you have any examples to posts with files that freeze the site or cause any other issues?
@Vytenis Butkevičius Thanks for your reply!
It is nice knowing what the limit is, and I am definitely all for reducing it...
thank you for your explanation about the file types.
My forum is a a closed for all non-members, but this is a link to an example

Hi, What is the maximum number of attachments allowed per post?
I'm having trouble with the upload feature, and have tried simple documents, from PDF to PNG and word. I just get an error message. 'Failed to upload.'
maybe you hit a limit, there is a limit of how many you can upload per day
@Vytenis Butkevičius Hi what is the limit per day? and is it limited per user or per category or per forum?
Thanks
The issue we have is that we sell products that have more than one audio track (3 mps) We can't upload more than one digital audio file per product so I am having to put the 3 different mp3s in one zipper folder. For Apple users this is a nightmare! They seem unable unzip the folder on their devices but when I send the individual files from another server, (Payloadz) they arrive all in one email and the customer has no problem. Has anyone found a way round this?
@Domas Sabockis Are you also considering the following:
1.Disabling downloads of videos (To retain users to a forum making content exclusive to the forum helps a lot in that regard)
2. Making file uploads visible in the forum category home feed, and make it possible to play or view the file within the forum (without a need to download the file).
Hey! 1. This is I think the first request for this ever, so didn't consider it before. 2. You mean in the new posts section? You can play the file within the post. For example just hit play on this one:
@Domas Sabockis Hie. thanks for the reply. Yes. More exemplified: using the example below
1. On image A (Image A is below)
(i) The uploaded file e.g audio or PDF file must show the play button or the open button right as you open the posts feed
(Rather than the file being visible after you click on the post - This helps forum users identify that there is a file (audio or document) way before they click on the post)
(ii)There must be an option to disable file download (So that members keep coming back to the forum)
Also instead of Download MP3 as shown below. The text must be something like: Play MP3 audio Or if it's a PDF attachment the message should read something like: Open PDF
IMAGE A : NB: Under the statement ending with "corona Virus", above:
Place the Alicia K link that prompts user to play audio file or to open PDF file
The file type limitations are applied in the file selection time, you should only select a file from your file system that is blank.
Agree!
@seemabali kamboh Would you care to demonstrate what you mean, for a better understanding on my part.

Yeahh, that's so fcking broken, sometimes you can't upload anything, but when you'll be able tou upload, you'll not be adble to download xDDD
Is there a way to download all files that have been uploaded at once - also where are they stored? When uploaded in groups, I can find them in the MEDIA section, but I cannot see the files uploaded in the forum. Also they are not in the content manager? I would love to download the uploaded files and images with th post made is this possible?
Will all the files display?
FileUpload option is greyed out in the following conditions: Form is set to Anyone with the link can respond option. You are editing the form as collaborator. If you want to use this option, you must be the creator of the form and it should be set to be shared with Only people in my organization can respond.
